Keith Urban set to headline CBS’ new music competition show “The Road”

Keith Urban to Headline CBS’ New Music Competition Series “The Road”

Country music sensation Keith Urban has been announced as the headline act for CBS’ exciting new music competition series, “The Road.” Created by Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, the show will see emerging talents vying for the opportunity to be Urban’s opening act on tour, with audiences at the shows playing a crucial role in deciding their fate.

“I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,” Urban shared in a statement. “Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught, like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd.”

Urban, a seasoned veteran in the music industry, is no stranger to music competitions, having previously served as a judge on “American Idol” and as a coach on the Australian version of “The Voice.” His wealth of experience and expertise will undoubtedly make him a standout headliner on “The Road.”

The show will feature performances at small and medium-sized venues in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, with a grand finale at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Free tickets for each show will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, giving fans the chance to witness the magic of live music up close.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Lucky Horseshoe Productions, “The Road” promises to be a unique and thrilling experience for both audiences and contestants alike. With Sheridan, David Glasser, Blake Shelton, and Lee Metzger at the helm as executive producers, the show is set to deliver top-notch entertainment and unforgettable performances.

As Urban and the contestants gear up for their tour dates, music fans can look forward to a showcase of raw talent, genuine passion, and the electrifying energy that only live music can provide. Stay tuned for the premiere of “The Road” on CBS this fall, and witness the journey of aspiring artists as they chase their dreams and prove their mettle in the music industry.
