FireAid, a nonprofit organization, made a significant impact by distributing $50 million in grants following a star-studded concert fundraiser. The remarkable success of the fundraising event, organized in collaboration with Live Nation, AEG, and the Azoff Company, raised a staggering $100 million through two benefit concerts held at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Inglewood. With over 30 artists participating across both venues, the concerts attracted an impressive 50 million viewers through 28 different streaming platforms.
The announcement of $50 million in grants marks the initiation of the first phase of funding by FireAid. These grants were allocated to community-based organizations selected for their capacity to efficiently and equitably deliver assistance to individuals impacted by fires. Each organization received $100,000 or more, with a primary focus on offering immediate relief funding. Notable recipients included Baby2Baby, various YMCAs, NAACP of Pasadena, MusiCares Foundation, LAUSD Foundation, CORE, and others.
In addition to aiding community-based organizations, FireAid also extended grants to individuals affected by January’s wildfires. These individuals encompassed displaced residents, workers, small business owners, and first responders, with a strategic emphasis on providing essential services such as food assistance, childcare support, critical healthcare resources, housing support, rental relief, student assistance programs, and navigation services to access legal resources and government benefits smoothly.
The first phase of funding is set to conclude by the end of February, after which FireAid will commence the distribution of phase two funding aimed at offering additional relief for long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. The nonprofit also introduced a program to issue smaller grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 to further support those in need.
