Citibank Customers Experience Fraud Alerts and Account Access Issues
Customers of a Citibank branch in New York, US, reported facing challenges on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025.
According to reports on DownDetector.com, which monitors digital service interruptions, numerous Citibank users encountered issues with their accounts throughout the day.
Complaints started around 9 a.m. Eastern time and continued to pour in, with many customers receiving fraud alerts and facing difficulties accessing their accounts.
On social media platforms, some users shared their frustrations about long wait times with the bank’s fraud department and inability to log in to their mobile accounts.
While a Citi spokesperson was unavailable for immediate comment, a bank representative reassured customers online by stating, “No updates at this time. We will reach out to you once the issue is resolved. There’s no need to keep checking unless you want to.”
Another agent mentioned, “We are actively working on this. Please try calling again in 1-2 hours.”
Earlier in the day, Citi announced strong financial earnings that surpassed analysts’ predictions, with several business sectors achieving record revenues.
