Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon hint at ‘You’re Invited’ in new project

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming comedy “You’re Cordially Invited” starring Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon is set to launch worldwide on Jan. 30. The film, directed by Nicholas Stoller, follows Jim (Ferrell) overseeing his daughter’s wedding and Margot (Witherspoon) her younger sister’s. However, chaos ensues when the ceremonies are accidentally double-booked at the same intimate wedding venue on an Atlanta island.

At a London preview of the film, Ferrell teased audiences, describing it as a rollercoaster ride with a familiar yet unique premise of two weddings booked on the same day at a destination where escape is impossible. The stakes are high as both characters are willing to go to great lengths to defend their turf.

Witherspoon added that the film mixes humor with heart, exploring themes of loss and self-reflection at weddings that either bring people joy or make them question their own lives.

Joining Ferrell and Witherspoon in the cast are Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, and Jimmy Tatro. Witherspoon’s recent credits include her Apple TV+ series “The Morning Show” and the upcoming romantic comedy “Your Place or Mine,” while Ferrell has lent his voice to “Despicable Me 4” and starred in “Will & Harper.”

Director Stoller, known for films like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Neighbors,” expressed his appreciation for comedy films that audiences enjoy revisiting during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter last year. He has also co-created the recent Apple TV+ series “Platonic.”
