Meryl Streep’s Daughter Mamie Gummer Files for Divorce: Report
Mamie Gummer, the eldest daughter of Meryl Streep, has filed for divorce from screenwriter Mehar Sethi, as reported by TMZ. Gummer, 41, submitted court papers on February 6, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending her six-year marriage to Sethi, listing their separation date as May 6, 2023. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, shares two children, Peter, 5, and Mary, 3. Gummer is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the kids along with spousal support.
Prior to her marriage to Sethi, Gummer was married to actor Benjamin Walker from 2011 to 2013. She is one of Streep and Don Gummer’s three daughters, along with Grace Gummer, 38, and Louisa Jacobson, 33, as well as son Henry Wolfe, 45. Streep and Don Gummer confirmed their separation in October 2023, stating that while they will always care for each other, they have chosen to lead separate lives.
Grace Gummer, Mamie’s sister, divorced musician Tay Strathairn in 2020 and later married record producer Mark Ronson in September 2021. Meanwhile, Jacobson, the youngest daughter, publicly shared her journey of coming out during Pride Month in June 2024. She opened up about “hiding” in relationships with men before embracing her truth and finding love with her partner, Anna Blundell.
Jacobson emphasized the importance of sharing her story to inspire others to embrace their truths without shame. By being true to themselves, she believes people can empower others to do the same.
