Psy and Megan Thee Stallion Set to Star in AppleTV+ Series

Apple TV+ Announces New K-Pop Music Competition Series “KPOPPED”

Apple TV+ has revealed plans to bring a new music competition series, “KPOPPED,” to Seoul, as announced by the streaming platform on Wednesday. The upcoming show will feature a unique collaboration between western music icons and K-Pop idols in an electrifying eight-episode song battle series.

Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion and K-Pop sensation Psy are set to star in the show, which is executive produced by Lionel Richie and CJ ENM’s Miky Lee. The series will be jointly produced by Korean entertainment conglomerate CJ ENM and Eureka Productions.

According to the show’s synopsis, each episode will showcase western icons reimagining their biggest hits alongside top-tier K-Pop idols. The performances will culminate in a spectacular battle where a live audience in Seoul will determine the winner of the best new K-Popped song.

Joining the executive production team of “KPOPPED” are Moira Ross, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, Jake Hong, and Kiwoong Kim for CJ ENM. Eureka Productions will be represented by Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, and David Tibballs, along with Bruce Eskowitz.

This marks Apple TV’s second foray into K-Pop content, following the release of the docuseries “K-Pop Idols” last year. The eight-episode series provided an inside look at the lives of K-Pop acts Blackswan, Cravity, and Jessi, delving into the challenges they face in the industry.

“K-Pop Idols” did not shy away from showcasing the realities of the K-Pop world, including internal conflicts within groups and the pressure of adapting to a new environment. Blackswan member Gabi shared insights on the documentary, emphasizing the imperfections and struggles faced by idols behind the camera.

As Apple TV+ prepares for the launch of “KPOPPED,” fans can expect a dynamic and engaging series that celebrates the vibrant fusion of western and K-Pop music. Stay tuned for further updates on the release date of this exciting new show.
