Black Sabbath Reunites for Ozzy Osbourne’s Farewell Concert
Legendary rock band Black Sabbath’s original line-up is set to reunite for Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham this summer. The all-day ‘Back to the Beginning’ concert will take place at Aston Villa’s stadium on Saturday, July 5, 2025. This historic event will mark the first performance together in 20 years of Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward. The concert will also feature a short solo set by Ozzy and a stellar line-up of musicians who were influenced by Black Sabbath.
Black Sabbath, pioneers of heavy metal, formed just a stone’s throw away from Villa Park in 1968. The reunion was announced by Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi at a press conference at Villa Park. Ozzy Osbourne expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning. Time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Joining Black Sabbath and Ozzy at the concert will be a lineup of rock legends including Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Halestorm, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and more. A supergroup of musicians will also perform at the event, with names like Billy Corgan, David Draiman, Duff McKagan, Slash, and many others confirmed.
Tickets for Black Sabbath’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ concert will go on sale on February 14, 2025, with all profits going to charities including Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
Black Sabbath’s last full show with Bill Ward was in 2005, and the band’s reunion in 2011 was cut short due to a contract dispute. However, all members have expressed their desire to play one final show.
The concert promises to be the greatest heavy metal show ever, with more exciting announcements expected in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned for updates on this historic event, set to be a celebration of Black Sabbath’s iconic legacy in the world of rock music.
