Andie MacDowell reveals piriformis syndrome diagnosis
Andie MacDowell, best known for her role in the movie “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” recently shared on “The Drew Barrymore Show” her experience with piriformis syndrome. The 66-year-old actress initially feared she needed a hip replacement due to intense pain shooting down her leg.
Piriformis syndrome affects the piriformis muscle and can compress the sciatic nerve, resulting in pain in the buttocks and leg. MacDowell explained that she felt this pain while vigorously riding her Peloton bike.
Fortunately, after undergoing physical therapy, MacDowell’s knees and hips are in good condition. She expressed gratitude for not needing new body parts and for the pain relief she experienced through her daily workouts.
In addition to discussing her health struggles, MacDowell also mentioned finding independence in her late 60s. Her daughter, Margaret Qualley, encouraged her to embrace this new phase of life and enjoy herself more.
Moreover, MacDowell recently relocated from Hollywood to South Carolina, stating that she is happier now than ever before. Her daughter Rainey also welcomed a baby in December with her partner Anthony Watson. The family celebrated the new addition with a surprise baby shower thrown by Margaret, with brother Justin also in attendance.
Overall, MacDowell is embracing the joys of life and cherishing her family moments, despite health challenges.
