Nick Lachey Urges Vanessa to Stop Mentioning Their Age Difference

Nick Lachey has no issue with being older than his wife, Vanessa Lachey, but there’s one thing he wishes she wouldn’t mention regarding their age gap.

Vanessa, 44, revealed to E! News on February 13 that she often tells Nick, 51, “When I was 12, you were 19,” a statement that makes him cringe. Nick, who is seven years older than Vanessa, admitted that such comparisons in their teenage years’ ages make him uncomfortable.

Despite Vanessa’s playful remarks, Nick emphasized that as adults, a seven-year age gap feels insignificant. He shared, “Seven years feels like seven months. When you get to be at this point in life, seven years is nothing.” Vanessa concurred, stressing that age is “nothing but a number now.”

Interestingly, Vanessa acknowledged that when they first met, with her in her twenties and Nick in his thirties, she initially felt the age gap more acutely. Reflecting on this, she admitted, “Him being older than me really put it in front of me in a more direct manner. I was like, ‘Dang, you’re so old and wise.'”

The couple’s age discrepancy didn’t deter their relationship, and since getting married in 2011, they have welcomed three children – sons Camden, 12, and Phoenix, 8, and daughter Brooklyn, 10. Both Vanessa and Nick have kept busy with their careers, including joint hosting gigs on Love Is Blind and The Ultimatum.

Managing their hectic schedules, Vanessa and Nick have found ways to prioritize their romance, even setting aside specific days for intimate moments. Vanessa humorously shared that they have designated Wednesday as “hump day.”

In addition to scheduling intimate time, the couple also regularly attend couples’ therapy. They emphasized the importance of seeking external perspectives and working through challenges to maintain a healthy relationship. Nick highlighted that relationships require effort, stating, “There’s no perfect person, there’s just your person.”

Vanessa and Nick’s candid approach to addressing relationship dynamics and challenges showcases their commitment to nurturing their bond. Their journey together serves as a reminder that even long-term relationships require ongoing work and effort to thrive.
