Justin Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman discusses the potential deposition of Taylor Swift in the actor’s lawsuit against Blake Lively in a recent podcast.
Freedman mentioned on TMZ’s “Two Angry Men” podcast that the decision to depose Taylor Swift has not been finalized but anyone with valuable information related to the case will be deposed.
The lawsuit was filed by Baldoni against Lively for defamation, following a lawsuit from Lively in December 2024, accusing Baldoni of creating a hostile work environment and causing severe emotional distress on the set of their film “It Ends With Us.”
In Baldoni’s legal filing, alleged text messages between him and Lively were provided, mentioning Taylor Swift and Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, in relation to changes made for a rooftop scene in the movie.
The lawsuit also involves an unnamed “megacelebrity” who was reportedly involved in a situation regarding the rooftop scene, which Baldoni felt dramatically differed from the original version.
In another text exchange between Baldoni and a Sony executive, Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet” was discussed for use in the film, indicating Blake Lively’s involvement in the decision-making process.
Lively has countersued Baldoni for sexual harassment and accused him of attempting to tarnish her reputation to cover up the harassment allegations. Baldoni has denied these claims and countersued Lively, Reynolds, and her publicist for defamation, civil extortion, and invasion of privacy.
The trial between Baldoni and Lively is scheduled for March 2026. Additionally, Baldoni has also sued The New York Times for defamation. The outlet responded to the lawsuit, calling it “rife with inaccuracies.”
Freedman hinted at potential legal actions beyond decency from Lively’s side and indicated the possibility of avoiding a deposition for Swift.
Overall, the legal battle between Baldoni and Lively continues, involving high-profile figures like Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds in the dispute over the film “It Ends With Us.”
