Wynonna Judd recently shared insights into the experience of raising her granddaughter, Kaliyah. In an interview on “Today With Jenna & Friends,” the 60-year-old country singer revealed that she has dedicated her time to caring for her 2 ½-year-old granddaughter and has limited her screen time. Instead of watching television or browsing Instagram, Judd focuses on spending time with Kaliyah.
Despite not indulging in popular children’s shows like “Bluey,” Kaliyah is a big fan of children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel. Judd admits to having to adapt to the high energy levels required for such shows, noting that she prefers the more laid-back programs like “Peppa Pig.”
Judd currently resides on her Tennessee farm with Kaliyah, where she embraces a simpler way of life away from the demands of show business. She emphasized the importance of disconnecting from technology, especially during meal times, and focusing on the joys of cooking and spending quality time with family.
The singer also opened up about her children, Elijah, 30, and Grace, 28, both from her previous marriage to Arch Kelley III. Grace, who has faced legal troubles in recent years, gave birth to Kaliyah in April 2022. Despite not having legal custody, Judd has taken on the role of caring for her granddaughter, particularly during Grace’s challenging times.
In April 2024, Grace faced legal issues resulting in her arrest for indecent exposure and other charges. Judd continues to support her daughter through these difficulties, emphasizing the importance of family and resilience.
Judd’s dedication to raising Kaliyah was evident in a previous interview where she described the joy of singing and sharing moments with her granddaughter. She expressed that these simple moments were priceless and brought immense happiness, emphasizing the importance of family bonds and genuine connections.
