Chuck Todd Departs NBC News Following Resignation from Meet the Press

long-time NBC News political reporter and former moderator of Meet the Press, Chuck Todd, has announced his departure from the network after nearly two decades. Todd shared his decision with his NBC colleagues, revealing that Friday would be his last day at the network.

In addition to leaving NBC, Todd will be taking his popular podcast, the “ChuckToddcast,” with him to a new home in the near future. He also hinted at launching a new venture that aims to bridge the gap between national and local news, emphasizing the importance of community in today’s media landscape.

During his time at NBC, Todd made significant contributions to the network’s political coverage. He was hired in 2007 by then-D.C. bureau chief Tim Russert and took over as moderator of Meet the Press in 2014. Under his tenure, the show expanded into streaming and created new platforms like a Meet the Press-branded film festival.

While Todd officially passed the baton of Meet the Press to current moderator Kristen Welker in 2023, he will remain at NBC as chief political analyst. His departure marks the end of an era at NBC News, with a spokesperson expressing gratitude for Todd’s contributions to the network.

In a note to his colleagues, Todd reflected on his time at NBC, expressing excitement for new projects on the horizon. He emphasized the importance of starting from the bottom up to rebuild trust in media, highlighting the role of local news in fostering community engagement.

Todd’s departure from NBC News signals a new chapter for the renowned journalist and entrepreneur. As he embarks on this next phase of his career, Todd remains committed to delivering insightful political reporting and analysis to his audience.
