AMC Theatres Promotes Nikkole Denson-Randolph as U.S. Chief Content Officer

AMC Entertainment Elevates Nikkole Denson-Randolph to Chief Content Officer, Elizabeth Frank Steps Down

AMC Entertainment has announced the promotion of Nikkole Denson-Randolph to senior vice president and chief content officer in the U.S. Denson-Randolph played a crucial role in bringing Taylor Swift’s blockbuster Eras Tour to cinemas. She will work closely with Hollywood studios and indie distributors to book movies and seek out alternative content. Denson-Randolph will report directly to AMC chairman-CEO Adam Aron and will be based in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Juan Antonio Gomez, chief partnership and content officer at Odeon Cinemas Group, has been appointed to lead all film and content programming internationally for AMC Entertainment’s movie theaters outside the U.S. Gomez will continue to report to Mark Way, president of AMC Europe, and managing director of Odeon Cinemas Group. He will be based in London.

The leadership transition comes as Elizabeth Frank, AMC’s long-time head of worldwide programming and chief content officer, announces her departure after 15 years to serve as CEO of RealD, a leading global provider of 3D cinema technology. Frank’s departure marks the end of an era at AMC, as she played a vital role in the company’s growth from a U.S. theatrical exhibitor to a global powerhouse.

In her new role, Denson-Randolph will oversee film programming, content acquisition, and movie strategy initiatives for AMC. She will also be responsible for strengthening relationships with filmmakers and studios worldwide. Denson-Randolph’s previous experience includes leading the planning and execution of AMC Theatres Distribution’s concert films and working closely with major studios through her leadership of AMC’s Programming Promotions team.

Speaking on the transition, Aron praised Denson-Randolph’s contributions to AMC’s success, highlighting her vision, creativity, and expertise in the film industry. Denson-Randolph expressed her excitement about leading AMC’s film operations and bringing exceptional stories to life on the big screen.

As Elizabeth Frank takes on the role of CEO at RealD, she looks to expand the consumer audience for theatrical 3D and provide cinemas worldwide with cutting-edge technology solutions. RealD has been a key player in the 3D cinema space, with top-grossing films like Deadpool vs Wolverine and Inside Out 2 generating significant box office grosses in 3D format.
