Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek at its highly anticipated comedy sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2,” starring Adam Sandler. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the film sees Sandler reprising his role as the unlikely golf sensation first introduced in the 1996 film “Happy Gilmore.” The project recently wrapped filming and is set to debut later this year on the streaming service.
In the new image released by Netflix, Sandler is seen taking one of his character’s iconic golf swings with the help of singer Bad Bunny, who plays his caddy. Additionally, the film will feature Christopher McDonald reprising his role as Shooter McGavin, setting the stage for a showdown between the two rivals.
While the premise of “Happy Gilmore 2” has not been revealed, the star-studded cast includes Julie Bowen, Margaret Qualley, Travis Kelce, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutowsky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and Philip Fine Schneider. Dennis Dugan, who directed the original film, also serves as an executive producer and will appear in the sequel.
Sandler, along with Tim Herlihy, Robert Simonds, and Jack Giarraputo, returns to produce the film. The screenplay was written by Sandler and Herlihy, who also penned the script for the first installment.
In a recent interview on the Dan Patrick Show, Sandler expressed feeling the pressure to live up to the success of the original film. Despite nerves, he remains confident in the team’s ability to deliver a worthy sequel.
With excitement building for “Happy Gilmore 2,” fans can look forward to another hilarious golfing adventure from Adam Sandler and company later this year.
