Jennifer Love Hewitt opens up about receiving inappropriate comments about her body as a teenager
Jennifer Love Hewitt recently shared her experience of being objectified and sexualized as a teenager in Hollywood. In a podcast interview with Mayim Bialik, Hewitt recalled how grown men openly discussed her breasts when she was just 16 years old, and people would laugh about it.
Hewitt became a sex symbol at a young age, especially after starring in the movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” She remembers how the public made crude jokes about her body, with one memorable comment being, “Oh, I know what your breasts did last summer.” Despite the inappropriate nature of these remarks, they were accepted and even celebrated at the time.
The actress also shared an incident from when she was on the cover of Maxim magazine at age 17. Men would approach her and make suggestive comments about the magazine, leaving Hewitt feeling uncomfortable and objectified. She reflected on how she didn’t fully understand the implications of these comments at the time.
Hewitt has been vocal about the media and public’s fixation on her body, particularly her breasts. She recalled instances where journalists would constantly ask her about her appearance, leading her to wear a T-shirt with the phrase “Silicone Free” to a press junket in an attempt to divert the conversation.
The actress’s candid revelations shed light on the toxic culture of objectification and sexualization in Hollywood, and serve as a reminder of the importance of respect and boundaries in all aspects of life.
