‘Conclave’ Leads with ‘Emilia Perez’

The BAFTA Film Awards nominations for this year are led by “Conclave” and “Emilia Pérez,” featuring a diverse array of talent and titles. With no clear favorite in major categories this year, the competition is wide open. Other contenders include “The Brutalist,” “Anora,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Wicked,” and “A Complete Unknown.” Notable names among the nominees include Demi Moore, Cynthia Erivo, Jeremy Strong, Ariana Grande, and many others in the running for their first BAFTA awards.

“Conclave,” a Vatican-set mystery-thriller, earned 12 nominations, while “Emilia Pérez,” a Spanish-language musical-thriller, received 11 nominations. Both films are leading the pack after the longlists. Additionally, “The Brutalist,” “Anora,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “Wicked” are also strong contenders in various categories.

The BAFTA Film Awards ceremony is set to take place on Feb. 16, with David Tennant returning as host.
