SpaceX to Launch 25 Starship Missions in 2025: Here’s What to Expect
SpaceX is gearing up for an impressive year with its Starship super heavy lift rocket, aiming for a potential 25 launches in 2025. The first mission, Flight 7, is set to feature a new Block 2 Starship upper stage, with a launch date possibly on Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. CST. The Federal Aviation Administration has already approved a launch license modification for this mission.
The upcoming launch will showcase several upgrades, including redesigned propulsion systems and enhanced avionics. Additionally, Flight 7 will mark the debut of a deployable payload test, featuring 10 “Starlink simulators.” These satellites will follow a suborbital trajectory and burn up in the atmosphere.
SpaceX’s ultimate goal is achieving full reusability with Starship in 2025. The company plans to conduct various experiments during Flight 7, such as relight demonstrations of Raptor engines and testing new materials for reentry protection. Continued progress towards reusability is crucial for SpaceX’s partnership with NASA’s Artemis program, where Starship is slated to play a key role in future Moon missions.
In preparation for these milestones, SpaceX is collaborating with the FAA to increase launch and landing activities at its Starbase facilities in Texas. Public meetings are scheduled to discuss these plans, as SpaceX aims to demonstrate its capabilities in space transportation throughout the year.
