Detroit Auto Show Charity Preview Returns to January with Glitz and Glamour
After a brief dalliance with September, the Detroit Auto Show gala returned to the familiar confines of January on Friday.
Amid a snowy and frigid day, the Charity Preview marked the beginning of the auto show season in Detroit. The event, attended by 6,000 guests bedecked in jewelry and haute couture, showcased the latest designs from automakers. Attendee Curtis Christopher Greene proudly stated, “America was not rolling until we put them on wheels."
The Charity Preview, known as the biggest social event of the year in Detroit, featured high fashion, music, and a display of vehicles. VIP guests, including political heavyweights like Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and U.S. Senators, mingled with the crowd in shiny tuxedos and glittering gowns, sipping champagne and admiring the automotive offerings.
The star-studded spectacle also included a performance by Flo Rida, who brought an energetic set of hip-hop hits to the party. The event, which raised proceeds for six children’s charities in southeastern Michigan, aimed to raise up to $3 million this year.
With glitz, glamour, and charitable endeavors, Detroit’s premier auto show event kicked off to a snowy start but showcased the city’s rich automotive history and stylish flair. The public show continued through Jan 20, offering visitors the chance to explore the latest in automotive innovation.
