THR’s ‘The Art of the Oscar’ Portfolio Exhibit Coming to Los Angeles

“The Art of the Oscar Exhibition Returns for Second Edition in Los Angeles”

Timed impeccably with the release of The Hollywood Reporter’s coveted Oscars issue, the second edition of The Art of the Oscar exhibition is set to captivate art enthusiasts and Oscar aficionados alike. Opening on Friday evening, this multimedia showcase will be on display at AF Projects in Los Angeles until March 21, showcasing a curated selection of artwork inspired by the iconic golden statuette.

Commissioned as a collaborative effort between The Hollywood Reporter and esteemed writer and curator Michael Slenske, this exhibition aims to present a fresh perspective on the formal, political, and anthropological themes embodied by the revered Oscar trophy. Thirteen talented artists hailing from Los Angeles to New York have lent their creative vision to reimagine this Hollywood symbol in unique and thought-provoking ways.

Among the artists featured in this exhibition are Grant Levy-Lucero, Kathryn Andrews, Ken Gun Min, Austyn Weiner, Elliott Hundley, Rob Pruitt, Drake Carr, Umar Rashid, Rogan Gregory, Conrad Ruiz, Sachi Moskowitz, Ellen Jong, and Jess Valice. Each artist brings their own interpretation and creativity to the table, transforming the familiar Oscar into a canvas for artistic exploration.

In a nod to last year’s success, where the exhibition featured leading artists such as Kenny Scharf, Seth Bogart, Jose Davila, and others, The Art of the Oscar continues to push boundaries and challenge conventions in the world of art and entertainment. The previous edition, unveiled at Hollywood’s renowned Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, received critical acclaim and was exclusively covered by The Hollywood Reporter.

For 2025, The Art of the Oscar promises an immersive experience from February 21 to March 21 at AF Projects, with a special artist reception scheduled for February 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s exhibition is poised to showcase the evolution and diversity of artistic talent across North America, offering a unique perspective on the iconic Oscar statue.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness these innovative reinterpretations of the Oscar trophy at The Art of the Oscar exhibition, where art, culture, and Hollywood glamour converge in a display of creative brilliance.
