Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have received temporary playing registrations while Spain’s top sports court evaluates Barcelona’s case against LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF]. The Consejo Superior de Deportes [CSD] has decided that both Olmo and Víctor can be selected until a definitive ruling is reached in the case. LaLiga had initially unregistered Olmo and Víctor on Dec. 31 for failing to comply with financial fair play [FFP] rules, but eventually allowed Barcelona to register them on Jan. 3 after meeting certain FFP requirements. However, LaLiga stated that players whose registrations are cancelled cannot be re-registered with a club in the same season.

Barcelona appealed this decision to the CSD, submitting a report to the court on Tuesday. The final decision from the CSD may take up to three months, but sources believe it won’t be that long. In the meantime, Olmo and Víctor can play for Barcelona, although they missed the opportunity to feature in the Spanish Supercopa semifinal with Athletic Club. If Barcelona advances, they will be eligible to play in the final against Real Madrid or Mallorca. Olmo and Víctor joined Barcelona permanently last summer but were only temporarily registered due to a rule allowing clubs to reallocate salary from an injured player to replacements.
